Always been one of my favorite planes. I've been wanting to do this in card after looking at my p*****c model and finding it lacking.

P38 is one of my favorites as well, but have hesitated trying to get the older Halinski for fear that the fit might not be as good as recent models. Anyone build this one that can comment on it?

Thanks,
Rick

This is the only build thread I've found anywhere in my searching - it's not real complete and ends abruptly a while ago. I didn't do any translations of anything - so not sure what he says.

I might be wrong but I seem to recall that the thread was closed do to the fact that the model was being built from a scan and the builder was unable/unwilling to present the original.

Interesting - there's nothing in the thread to indicate that - but the model does indeed appear to not have the silver sheen.

Let me stress once again that I might be wrong, since it has been a while. I think that the discussion about not posting any more pictures of the model, was taking place in a separate thread. They ended up with some kind of a rule change for builds from scanned models. It could have been that someone else was a culprit and this guy just got caught in the rule change.

On a related note I'm thinking about start a ginko regiment

Ok - so I've been jonesing to add a P38 to my ever growing build list. Does anybody have any input on this older Halinski kit versus this PMI kit? And are there any other newer 1/33 (1/32) Lightning out there that I'm missing? If so, it would seem that's a gap that needs to be filled

I wrote a small review and took some new pics that I hope brings out the very great metallic print.

Go here and at the bottom is the review of the P38

I really dont think you will find a much better P38 than the halinski one. I might be wrong here since I havent built it myselves.

I would suggest the Halinski kit - eventhough it is not the latest superdetailed kit, it is still better the the PMI one.
FlyModel also had the P-38 - damraska had a nice build review but his website seems to be down...

Guess I'll start hunting for a copy of this one

I still think there could be some other color schemes of this plane as well...
