S.S. "Californian" 1:400
Hello!
Because Lucania will be soon ready, I`d like present you the new project. British steamship from 1901 served in Leyland Line. "Californian" is famous from Titanic`s disaster. More about this ship you can read here: SS Californian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The model will be in 1:400 scale. Best regards. Krzychu74

Excellent project!
This is a historic ship, and one that is quite representative of merchant ships of the early 20th century era. Don |

Hello!
Thank you Friends for kind words. Miles Linnabery: Carpathia should be after Californian, but I wonder if there will be too monotonous because on the four-designed models three will be from Cunard line (Ivernia, Lucania, Carpathia) and one of the other line (Californian). Maybe I'll give a model "between" California and Carpathia for more variety. douglasmarrel: yes. Of course, the same as Lucania will be able to waive the underwater part of the hull if someone does not want to do. First dwo sheets with frames. Best regards. Krzychu74

Did I understand correct that Ivernia has the same underwater hull as one of these other ships?

If you wish to expand beyond the Cunard Line, why not the White Star Line's S.S. Teutonic of 1889, considered the first "modern" liner, and the last White Star ship to fly the Blue Riband. Even Kaiser Wilhelm II was impressed -- "We must have some of these." See:
SS Teutonic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia R.M.S. Oceanic (1899) is another noteworthy White Star liner, with a fine profile. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Oceanic_(1899) She also has a connection to the Titanic -- see below. And there were few liners quite as lovely as the Inman Line's S.S. City of Paris and S.S. City of New York (1888), although I personally think they looked better with their original three funnels. In 1912, the renamed S.S. New York was tied next to R.M.S. Oceanic in Southampton but snapped her mooring lines and nearly collided with the Titanic as the doomed liner set out to sea. Imagine if the Titanic was delayed for only a few hours as the crew inspected the impact area for damage... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_City_of_Paris_(1888) SS City of New York - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I also endorse the previous suggestions for the S.S. Waratah and S.S. Empress of Ireland. Their tragic tales should also be remembered. David T. Okamura |
