Looks like an excellent project, K74.
Perhaps now you will finish your model of this beautiful escorteur d'escadre, Jeff. Don |

Hi, looks really great and highly detailed.
It even could be in a larger scale.

Hello!
Thank you very much Friends for your kind words. I am glad that you are interested in the project. cwiokster: do you finished your model? I make model in 1: 400 scale because documentation that I have is very good to this scale, but not too accurate for the scale of 1: 200. I have only the plans from Polish magazine "Modelarz" 1/57 and a dozen images found on the Internet when I was looking for documentation for this model. Today I'll show some sheets with parts and instructions. Best regards.

I did find some other resources that led me to reexamine my project. I had not realized the 1958 Andrzej Samek model was based on published model plans from 1957 (or earlier). In any case, these appear to be based on sketches from Jane's Fighting Ships or Flottes de Combat, plus a few photos. Not surprising given the Era. I do have a very good French language book on this class by Robert Dumas/Jean Moulin, recently reprinted by Marines Editions (2012)La Boutique marine, as well as the 1:100 scale builders plans which were once available online, though sadly withdrawn due to hacking attempts. Interestingly, the original Mały Modelarz kit was published in 1:200sc, but as you noted, I found it looked more realistic at half that. The builder's plans mentioned showed it had some inaccuracies that would be less noticable at 1:400. At any rate You are making great progress. I believe the more usual frame structure will make a better hull than the modular approach of the old kit. regards Jeff C. Last edited by cwiokster; 08-11-2015 at 08:39 PM. Reason: typos |
