Paper model club or group in South Africa

Do any members know of a group or club with paper/card modelers in South Africa. I live in the Southern Cape,Wilderness area not far from George and Knysna.
I am a member of The Outeniqua Scale Model Club, they are plastic modelers and primarily aircraft but do show interest in the few paper models I have shown although none are going to enter this side of the hobby.
Perhaps there may be a few modelers who are in this part of the world that would like to start an informal Paper/Card model group.
If so send me a PM or just reply on the thread.
Happy Modeling to all those thousands of brilliant paper modelers out there and that are part of this forum (an absolute gold mine of paper model info and help)
Regards
Owen

Very much doubt that you will find an actual paper model group in SA.

Had a look at the map and there are only 13 of us in the whole country with me being the closest at just over 300 KM from you.

Create a Google Hangout, if you have google or gmail accounts, you already have access to Hangouts, and if you have email addresses, one can create a chatroom, and you even do a video chat

You can even share screens, so you can show what you are working on if you are designer, or repainter

it is quite stable

I haven't tried it with non gmail or google accounts yet, maybe next break

Thanks all, seems like I am on my own, best part is that I can still show what I am doing and see what all the other modelers are up to on the forum. Presently working on a Skoda Sentinel Under type steam wagon (lorry) Will put up some pics, also finished the Armoured Fowler Steam Tractor from JB Models.

Use the Forum, yes Owen. And share the pics etc.

I tried to get modelers around Johannesburg together at one stage - but no interest. I also tried a few times to see if anyone wanted to pool together when I bought models from overseas.

The postage is pretty expensive, but doesn't go up proportionally if you buy a lot of models - so if a few people combine an order the postage becomes negligible. Again no interest.

So it goes.

Hi Kevin WS, it seems to me that there are very few modelers out there that are interested in card modeling, I find it a great passtime and get pleasure looking at the finished product even if it is not up to the standards of the card modelers on the forum.
Postage from overseas to SA is very expensive, I wonder why more companies and publishers do not go the electronic download route, I have purchased a number of card tram kits from TLRS in UK and you get it within 12 hours of making payment and they are nice kits and go together reasonably well.
