Wrap-up...for now.

I didn't want to leave this thread hanging, so here's what's up...

I patched over the damage with more 20# bond repair pieces. It looks...well...patched up. I then went to work on the horizontal stabilizers and encountered some more fit problems. Minor ones, mind you, but this whole model has seemed to be a series of fit issues, one after another. Frankly, it has been very draining (and should hobbies be draining??).

So...I have decided to set this one aside for now. Not toss it -- just set it aside. In fact, I've pretty much decided to set all card aside for a while and go back to work on my wooden ship model, HMS Fly, an English 16-gun sloop-of-war launched in 1776. It's a case of 'turnabout is fair play', since this is the kit I set aside to work on my recent spate of card models. I will be chronicling this build at Model Ship World. I hope some of you will check in from time to time.

As`work on Fly gears up, you may notice me posting less here (maybe), but I will by no means be completely absent -- too much good stuff in progress to monitor here.

Thanks, Chris G., for sponsoring the contest and for the free kits!

Cheers, all!

Just recieved an answer to e-mail from Chris Gutzmer, since I am attempting a Spanish civil war version of the Heinkel 51.
The control surfaces do not
need to be flexible as that wouldnt really show in the pics anyway

Sorry to see this model is such a bear. It will be interesting to see if the land version has the same issues.

Just for laughs here is a version with a little contrast. This is the version with Spanish civil war paint job. There are a few places that need some surgery (not plastic) to get further along. Always a chalange, but how else will we have fun?
