I like the tissue technique. I think it will be especially useful on some of my enlargements of 1:60 to 1:48 and 1:48/50 to 1:33 where the longer fuselage and wing sections could use some reinforcement. The aft fuselage looks great, BTW!

Great stuff, Peter. I also like the stuffed tissue idea and will definitely give it a try. I'd like to know more about your technique for beveling the bulkhead formers; do you sand them to an angle?

Chris & Ron thanks for the encouragement.. The key for me with the tissue in something small, is using little thumb size bits and ease it in with a bamboo skewer.. Bigger pieces will just wad up on you.

Chris... if I put the former in without beveling the angle, then I end up with a slight bump/hump at the joint.. I'll sand a little (former).. test fit and so on until I get a snug fit without any distortion of the skins. Hope that makes sense.. Easier to do, then to explain. (at least for me)

tail pieces

Just a small update.. Attached the stabilizers to the fuselage. Had to sand a little off the bottom of the top fin so that it would flush up with the body. Horizontal parts fit perfect.

tail skid & stabilizer struts

Made up the tail skid.. use thread to simulate the bungee cord. also added the struts using some scrape strut material left over from an old vacuform model.

Skid...

That is mighty fine! Good use of other materials to improve the model.

The more projects I see - the less like origami and the more like fine carpentry this looks. You might check out the Experimental Aircraft Association for actual aircraft plans to build from - based on what I'm seeing you might just build you a real (as in big enough to sit in - these models are real enough in their own way) airplane too.

This is turning into a real beauty. You're doing an incredible job on it!

A question for you too, what are you doing in your avatar? It looks like you are on a beautiful CA beach holding a tennis racket with a garbage bag on the top, lol. I realize we're all a bit crazy building these models but I can't imagine that's really what you're doing :p
