...to illustrate the above said, here's a quick'n'dirty 1/3000 plane (note that this is a mere prove of concept, not a serious model, let alone a contest entry!).
On a real model one would use paper for the wings instead of cardboard, but frankly I was to lazy for a second print. As you can see, there's not one single piece formed, solely cut out and glued. (CVE by Navwar)

Still looked okay to me...does it violate the rules of the contest somehow ( I realize it's not an entry, just curious)? Okay, looked at the rules and still don't know if Michi's 1:3000 plane violates the rules or not.

It doesn't violate any, but it is reduced a little in points for simplicity and in details since it is 2.5d

Ha, I know right? If you start out building at 1/144 or 1/200 a lot then you can eventually work down to 1/1000 or 1/1250 with some practice. I am by no extent a master but that's what I did. It also helps to not be farsighted.

And then after a while, some nice men in white coats come to your door and say they are here to take you for "a little rest"......

Buy seriously, awesome builds by everyone. I am truly amazed at the level of construction at those tiny scales.

Talking about F-18, I built one back in 2010 at 1/263 with F-5 at the same scale
here Stahlhart's Minute Top Gun F-18 1/263
I printed 4 pages of the template on one A4 sheet and the outcome was 1/263.
As it was built some four years ago and is therefore not intended for any competition.
