FGMM Me 209 Trop version

I know, there was no Me209 Trop scheme. It was a race plane. This one is pure fantasy. And yes, I did think I was done with the FG stuff for a while. BUT.... I have been fiddling with my photo program and I figured I'd plat with an FG model as they tend to be simple enough for me. I picked the 209 because it's 1:33 scale and a very simple kit.
One thing led to another and I actually started being able to do what I want to do with the program. In my tiny little warped mind I envisioned a scenario for the Mediterranean theater of the was where the Germans realized their code had been broken and decided to send the most important orders only by air courier, and only the fastest planes would do. I know, "You need to get out more, Chris". :D
Well, that's my excuse for a Mediterranean scheme on an Me 209!
Anyway, I did my first true recolor today, not even starting with a B&W version, so I'm thrilled even if it's not the best and still needs lots of work.
I'll be doing an interior and clear canopy (tomorrow, I hope!). I'm scratchbuilding some more interesting landing gear;

And I'm building the exhausts in 3D.

But really for me, this thing is just the fun of actually getting closer to my goal of being able to do a real recolor (yes, Don, the MM Hampden is still high on the list!)

I know it's rough, uneven, and even bad, but it's better than I've gotten before today. Like I said, I'm thrilled to get to this point.

Hopefully more tomorrow.
Chris

Looks pretty good to me Chris, far better than anything I'd be able to do.

I agree. After all, it is a fantasy, and unless your shooting for realism (that didn't exist in this case), I think it looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing the interior build.

Looks great!

Does it need a tropical airfilter?

Tim, I think it does! I had thought about trying to scratch one, but I think I can copy the one from the GPM Stuka. Other than that, this one is done.
I didn't take photos along the way, so no interior shots, sorry.

All in all, for my first real recolor, I'm happy.

Very nice!

Maybe it could also be used as a high-speed recon plane?

I hope you send that into Chip, so we can all have a chance at building it.

Beautifully done. It looks fast just sitting there. I'd like to see you send that to Chip as well.

Thanks, guys. I'll have to see if I can clean it up enough to send to Chip. Not sure I can, but I'll try!

That's really a great scheme for that bird Chris. I would love to see it witha four-blade prop! and maybe some cannon pods under the wings! Really a cool build none the less.
