Aaron,
I can send you some scans tonight. I have the "In action book" and I should really scan and send you a couple of the pictures so we can get it right. If you don't mind, hold off until I get them to you. Ryan

Ok. I really need shots of the underside, with and without a torpedo. Was there some kind of internal bomb bay that the tail of the torpedo tucked into?

Not as far as I recall, Aaron. The tail of the torpedo was mostly in the open, with less than the upper third of the diameter within the "semi-recess" of the aircraft fuselage.
Most of the info I'm citing is memory, and I freely admit I may be open to correction by those with more and better info. Ie: if Ryan's data shows I'm in error then so be it... I'm going by memories over 40 years old at this stage, and little access since to my reference books. But, if I am in error, I apologise for that. Kind and Respectful Regards Aaron my friend, Uyraell. Last edited by Uyraell; 03-18-2012 at 01:17 PM. |

I'll take any information I can get. There wouldn't happen to be any still surviving would there?

I'm hoping these will help. There are no TBD's in museums anywhere, although there is talk af raising and restoring one.

Going by Wag's helpful pics my recall was slightly off, for which I apologise.
I just hope my recall of the torpedo retainer/carrier mount system was closer to accurate. Many Thanks Wag for helping Aaron with these pics. I found a view images, I hope they also are of some help. Kind and Respectful Regards my friends, Uyraell. Last edited by Uyraell; 03-18-2012 at 03:02 PM. |

Those'll help a lot. I hope you don't mind Ryan, but I simplified the wheel wells. In the pictures, it looks like the cutout hugs the shape of the landing gear. I simply did a box. It's pretty fiddly at 1:48 as it is.
For the torpedo recess, I'll do a sloped box, and omit any kinds of clamps. 1:48 is a bit fiddly for my size 13 fingers. |

I've set a goal in life that if time travel is ever invented, I'm going back to just after WWII when they were selling surplus planes for a few hundred bucks or less, buy as many as I can, and put them in long term storage somewhere.
The only problem is. If time travel was invented, and I did that...I've forgotten where I put all those planes |
