I redesigned the nose to make it rounder, while avoiding petals. Unfortunately my build skills don't do it justice. (I can design just about anything. Unfortunately, I can't build a box.)

I also found out that leaving the good camera plugged into the PC causes it's batteries to die.

Yup. I got that problem too, Aaron... And it is odd that when you nomally leave it on (not plugged in), it turns off automaticly after 3 or so minutes.

yep.Thing is, the screen was dark, so I didn't even know it was still on. It's a conspiracy, man

I did do a sensible thing. Bought a spare battery, so that if I ever forget to tun it off, i can use it almost immediately. The used battery goes straight into the charger (for a night). Worst part was the darn price of the battery: 50 Euro's. But well worth it.

50 EU?

There are aftermarket batteries sometimes that can be *way* better on price. Canon markets spare batteries for about $70 apiece for my Rebel. I found same spec batteries, with very good reviews, on Amazon for $10 apiece, ~$15.00 with charger. I needed a stack of batts for a museum shoot-up, so I bought 3 extra batts - enough for a good 8-10 hours of picture taking, plus easily recharged in the car on a rotating basis. It worked out very well.

I think Canon just wants to build cameras and NOT batteries, so their production does not have the same economy of scale... so, check Amazon first!

Fortunuately my camera uses regular AA batteries. I just don't have any. Another thing to add to the shopping list.

Amazon doesn't (yet) have a Dutch website nor was buying on Amazon.co.uk/Ebay an option, as I don't have a creditcard (which Amazon seems to handle exclusively). And I prefer buying electronics in a store anyway.

Legion, I understand your feelings about dealing with a physical store front. In this case, however, Amazon's customer reviews database is enormous and provides information even a store front would have difficulty providing. A *good* store has the alternative, which is a knowledgeable salesman who knows the product and its track record - if there is one. Day is coming when the best stores will be both physical and virtual and success will be based on effective & efficient data (aka information) management. The advantage Amazon has is in the transparency of transaction - both the good & the bad is available to the consumer to base their purchase decision upon. This is sometimes a much more complex vetting process when compared with a shop owner who guarentees your purchase will perform as they advise...
