Oddball's back in Production!

I'm back! Still looking for a job, but I was able to find a place to hook up my computer so I can get back into designing. I just emailed 3 versions of the F-16XL to Ecardmodels.com. The prototype in 2-tone gray and blue, NASA's black white and yellow version, and a what-if Thunderbirds scheme. I don't have a camera yet, so no pictures, but I did build it (it came out smaller than I'd hoped for, only in the 1:50's ).

Next up is the F3D, and a few commissions as co-projects (I work better when I have 2 or 3 going at the same time).

Here's an odd request guys. I'm sitting at the library staring at a book called "America's Flying Boats and Amphibious Aircraft", and thinking I want to design a flying boat / seaplane.

Eventually I want to tackle the PBY-5 Catalina, but I need to develop some skills first. Any body have any suggestions for a "beginners" flying boat?

How about a Grumman Widgeon? Similar in design to a goose but still different enough. Coast Guard Livery would be neat.

Aaron, of those suggested, I think the Lake Buccaneer would probably be the easiest, as it has a simple hull. It has the additional virtue of having never been modeled before (that I know of), giving you an exclusive product. There is also a lot of info on it on the web, and as a civilian, private aircraft, fills a unique marketing niche as a model.

The PBY and Grumman Widgeon have both been done in paper before, the PBY several times, so your finished design would have competition- in the PBY's case, from Marek and GPM. Not to discourage you, if you really want to do it, but if your goal is sales, why not concentrate your time on something no one else has done already?

For fans of Aaron's work, his three F-16XL models are now on sale at Ecardmodels.com!

I have to admit the Lake Buccaneer would be a really neat model. I think I may need to change my suggestion.
