Not sure if I missed one of these or not, but the NB-36H would also be an interesting model.

Designed to be nuclear powered, the aircraft did fly, but not with a working reactor. Based on the B-36, the wings are the same, but the fuselage and tail plane are different.

Might be a future idea build also.

NB-36H - thanks goodness this was a one-off!

It would make a interesting, historical model! Great idea Ash.

It flew with a working reactor, but never using it for power. Always with a nuclear response team in a plane along with it. I did some work (grounding) on the hover-pit used for the F-35 tests at Lockheed (former GD plant) and a man that works in maintenance (35 years) there told me that the storage pit for the reactor is still there. It's at the north-west end of the runway, he said they would take the plane to that end and load the reactor, it's a pretty good ways from the plant and they wanted it away from any workers. It had an 11 ton lead lined crew compartment installed in it.....Rich

I got the XC-99, Gonna do the XB-60, now the NB-36H....any other variants of the B-36 out there?

I wonder if I should include a little Geiger counter to go with the NB-36...

You guys are amazing. I thought I had a pretty good eagle eye view of the wild and wooly planes we had built in the US (as a result of a wasted youth), but I had never heard of ANY of these. Great work, and would make truly stunning models.

I must be paying waaaaaaay too much attention to this thread. I had a dream last night about the YB-60 -- the real aircraft, not the model!

And I'll put in my vote for the X-6/NB-36H. We gotta be in a Golden Age for oddballs thanx to Aaron!
