Well, if you happen to have good shots of the markings, The best I can find are some lo res shots of a plastic model decal sheet, but they don't translate well.

See if the attached help.

Also, here's the link to the Dryden...er, Armstrong...photos. Each photo is available in a hi-res version that should help some with the markings. NASA Dryden X-1E Photo Collection

I think I already have all of those. Just making sure the model is S-2ish looking.

And a challenge for those who choose to accept it:
Upcoming models-mockup_bell_v-280_valor_tiltrotor.jpg
Bell V-280 Valor Tiltrotor. I could use a 3-view. It looks like it's got some Sikorsky Blackhawk in it, so if I can find the Rhino file for the Blackhawk, I should be able to start from there. But just in case, anybody wanna take the challenge of finding a 3-view?

************************************************** ***********
I've decided that while I wait for the complicated models to get beta tested, I'm gonna work on simpler models that I can design and build myself in a day or 2.

While I work on the S-2, I'm also gonna start on this fun little guy I found:

Upcoming models-bell-bat-1.jpg

The Bell Advanced Tiltrotor, or BAT. Bell took the XV-15, and took the technology in 2 different directions: a larger transport version, which became the V-22 Osprey, and smaller one person scout, the BAT, which was a competitor to the RAH-66 Comanche. We know who won though (nobody did, really).

They never made it past mockup stage, and didn't even include landing gear or full length rotors, so I get to do some imaginary work.

Tiltrotors! No arguments from me.

Never seen the BAT before, nice find.

I'll see what 3 views I can find of the V-280.

I've been thinking about designing a submarine for a while, but I could never find one that wasn't full of fiddly bits and uncomfortable curves.

I figured I'd start off with a sub that's closer to what I'm used to.
Upcoming models-subish.jpg

The only info I can find on it is a name of Ushakov LPL "Flying Submarine"

Just in case somebody thinks it, working is Rhino is relaxing for me, and actual designing only takes a little it of time (the flying sub only took 4 hours) Unrolling, tabbing and putting onto paper is where all the time goes. I generally do a couple hours of Rhino work a night after work, then go hardcore on my days off.

I'm definitely buying Rhino when I grow up. Is it easy to design models?

There's a learning curve. I learned how to use Autocad in college, and Rhino is very similar to that. Any other design programs (Sketchup, Pepakura, etc) remind me that I'm an old dog, and they're new tricks...

WANT!

A couple thoughts:
-- Think about ditching the black stripes on the wings. IIRC, they were limited to an experiment late in the X-1E's research program.
-- I believe the rudder, ailerons and elevators s/b natural metal.
-- Any particular reason you left off the "Little Joe" markings? They were a tribute to the project pilot, Joe Walker.

My $$$ are ready when you are, Aaron!
