I was gonna try putting a gear on each wing and intermesh them so both wings move when you move one. Unfortunately, figuring it out takes more math skills than I possess.

You could make a hole than use three or four, paper circles of different sizes to make it pivot.

To make the wings move together, use teeth on each wing base that interlock with each other. For pivots, you can make paper tubes that act as the pivot pins like int the real thing. A disc on each end of the pins will make sure that the wings will not come off on the pins.

I'll see if I can sketch up something and get it on here later.

Dear Aaron:
Why go through the truble of making the wings mobile but have tick marks so they can be glued to any of the detent positions? yea olde KISS principle.
Good Luck,
MILES

Here's kind of what I'm thinking. Sorry for the sloppiness. I did this in about 2 minutes.
The teeth on the wings inter-mesh and sweep at the same angle and rate. The wing pivot pins are just rolled paper with a cap on each end.

Willy, the issue with the F-14 is that it is wide.

Aaron, try looking at the VF-1 and derivatives here in the forums download section. They have swing wings just like the F-14.

I'm aware of the wide fuselage thing. I got the teeth idea from an old plastic F-14 I had. It had a system like that and it worked flawlessly. If you make a inner wing box support thingy out of heavy card or 1mm board, it will be strong enough to support the wings and the rotation.

The idea I had was to use toothpicks as the pivots, reinforce the wings with heavy cardboard (the back of a legal pad) including the gears, and then make the whole wing section as a standalone piece. I.e; build the wing center section, then attach the rest of the plane to it.

The hard part is figuring out how to do it. I may have to invest in some alternative research materials.

Putting the F-14 on the back burner while I await a flash of insight. I thought I'd work on another oddball:
