If you back away from the real aircraft until it has the same apparent size as the model, what do the real panel lines look like? Many still will be visible, even though they won't look stark black. Other panel lines will seem to disappear. This might be the appearance ideal for the model, requiring very subtle variations of color in the model's panel lines. Unfortunately for Murph, this still means that he must spend the time to capture virtually all the panel lines in his designs.

It's kind of a mixed bag. I usually don't like adding every panel line for the same reason, but Soviet planes seem to be all panel lines, and I don't think they had plane washing in the budget, because every Soviet plane I've ever seen looks dirty, and every panel line shows up from any distance because of it. But I'm gonna dial back on the panel lines once I get it into Photoshop. I've got the lines in Rhino set to the minimum thickness so they don't get cartoony and jagged in Photoshop, so they seem heavy in the pictures.

Next up is the Tu-22M /Tu-26 Backfire. I dialed back the panel lines. I figure once I add colors, they should practically disappear.

And the wings move!

Scale is 1/93, and it's 18 inches long (wingspan varies)
Unfortunately, my build skills wouldn't allow the swing wing mechanism to work. A better builder should be able to get it to work.

If the panel lines disappear when you add the color, it might be advisable to darken them a little more so they can be seen, just not as prominent.

Just a thought

Bet it'll be good looking! I'll mark this one for beta build, Aaron.

I finished up with the Scorpion, so now I'm looking for another relief project (something quick and easy to work on when the bigger projects get too frustrating).

I'm trying to decide between these two guys:

Agusta A106

Saro Skeeter

I'd go with the Agusta. It has orange in it.

So does the Skeeter

Though I'm thinking about this one too

Might be enough orange on this one...
