I've done some basic edits and recolors in Inkscape, it really wasn't too much to re-learn. There are a couple tutorials from the Inkscape website that go through the basics - how to create a shape, close it, edit the line and the fill, use gradients, etc. You can group objects easily once you've created them to move them around easier. I use <ctrl> + scroll to zoom in and out quickly. Here is a link to the web version of the basic tutorial (all i've done so far personally): Inkscape tutorial: Basic. However I believe that the program comes with the same tutorial in inkscape format so you can practice everything right there in the tutorial. It maybe took me an hour to go through and has given me enough for what' i've needed to do - which is work directly with the vector file for resizing, editing of paint jobs, etc.

Vector advantages
Biggie is that a vector image can be resized without loss of resolution. Drawback is the investment in creating certain complex designs, however, those designs are infinitely reuseable... so, creating a library of standard items (insignia, lettering, lines, wheel hubs, etc.) literally gives access to an ever increasing series of 'nuts and bolts'.
I, too, am a noob in Inkscape, but for modeling, vector art is a much better investment.

And you can even draw with it

I may try something. I'll try and arrange everything in Rhino so all I'd have to do in Inkscape is add color. Hopefully that'll make everything vector still.

I don't know about you Aaron,
but I think it's time for another helicopter. I found one within the H-13 Sioux page on Fiddler's Green. It's the original test bed for the AH-1, the Bell Model 207 or the D255 Iroquois Warrior. I found a few pictures of this AWESOME heli on Google. Here they are.
