I thought the DC-8 had 4 engines?

N817NA was most definitely a DC-8. But before that, the tail number was assigned to a very nice looking DC-3.

I might have to buckle down and do a DC-3. I've also had a request for a Waco CG-4A, and it would need something to get it into the air. Plus:

I would think there are a lot of options for a nice DC-3 & C-47. Wasn't there even a turbine one?

A DC-3 in that American Airlines livery would be terrific!

I seem to recall building a Strombecker solid model in those markings. Not sure what ever happened to it

Don’t forget that American Airlines pennant. You have the DC-2, so that would only leave the Boeing 247, a truly interesting airplane. Even had rudder and elevator trim tabs, but no flaps.
