By any chance did Tuominen serve over the Libyan Desert ?
Are you aware of any G.50 pilot who did?

Thanks,

I doubt Oiva Tuominen ever made to Africa even for vacation after war

I checked few here and there and it looks like those Fiats have been relegated to secondary duties by the time Libyan campaign took off.Advance training, recon, that sort of thing.

It looks like last time G.50 was used in first line was Greek/Albanian campaign with exception of Croatian Fiats-those flew in first line operations all the way till the end.

Your work prompted my response.
I’ve held onto this painting unable to add an historic background to the scene.
Also have a number of improvement sketches depicting the G50.

Paraphrased from Internet research:
In Africa, although the G.50s were mainly outperformed, G.50 pilots sometimes managed to shoot down the faster and better armed Hurricanes and P-40s.The type never flew very high over Africa, with the usual ceiling not exceeding 4,500 m. The aircraft were still lacking radios and the desert sand, despite their air filter, could cut the engine lifespan to only 70–80 hours.

Short engine life was an issue with all aero engines in Africa,ME and India since beginning of aviation there.I don't know if that was ever resolved.

G.50 was known to be troublesome plane back in Spain.Something must have been wrong with cockpit set up or that section of fuselage since entire part was redesigned.Strangely enough some of original closed cockpit G.50s ended up in Finland (of course minus closed canopy parts) and their shape does stand out from other, newer series.

Finally finished Air Inuit B737-200 repaint by Tigertony. What a beautiful plane that is imho.Like Hurricane I lost some parts and had to reprint replacements but it all worked out.

I'll bend files to Aaron when I clean them up.

YukonJohn kindly let me have a shot at another of his repaints, this time Bf-110C that was repaired ,flown and evaluated by RAF.Sadly AX772 was scrapped in 1947.

Model will be gifted to neighbours kids so it's build sans wheels and props.Kids tend to fly them a lot.

One thing YukonJohn added are underwing engine radiators. They fit well and look the part magnificently-I hope Aaron can retrofit them into other models.

It is really cool and simple kit of pretty famous aircraft.I'll be making a repaint of one flown by Wolfgang Falck.
