Airplane pictures from work

I figured I'd put the pictures of planes I see at work here.

First off is my favorite, British Airways 747

Great seeing those airliners. I think that BA will be phasing out the B747....

What city is that in the background, Aaron?

While the 747’s days are undoubtedly numbered, BA just announced they are repainting one of their ‘47’sin a nostalgic BOAC scheme as part of their anniversary celebrations. So it isn’t out of the skies yet.

I was talking to the local mechanic for BA a while ago, and he said their plan is to phase them out in the next 2 or 3 years. Nobody is sure what will replace them though. I saw the article about the new BOAC paint scheme, and I'm hoping it makes it out my way before they retire it.

It's like the situation with American Airlines here. Rumors are that they're retiring the 757 that fly the Phoenix to Hawaii routes, but no one knows what will replace them. I;ve heard everything from 767's, A330's, or 787's. So far, only the A330 that pops in once in a while goes to Hawaii. Ameriican is also opening up a Phoenix to London service, but again nobody knows what will be used. Again, rumor is fluctuating between 767s, 777s or 787s. We do get a Condor 767 from Germany during the summer, so I think it has the range.

One of our local newschopper pilots likes to take videos as he's flying, and post them on YouTube (chopperguy). Here's a video I really like:

Ya know, big planes like the 787 and 747 dont look that big from a distance:
Airplane pictures from work-20190128_160215.jpgAirplane pictures from work-20190118_184502.jpg

But then you get up close and personal, and they're huge:

Btw, guess who we had visit today:

Is that JAL 787 a LAX diversion?

Nope. Supposedly one comes in once a year to bring some sort of team.

Though JAL is supposedly in negotiations to start a regular Japan to Phoenix flight. If they do, hopefully it'll mean we might get an occasional A380 visit.
