Thanks for the picture - I'm amazed that the news has spread so far!
I tried the web site but could only get todays page. I had to smile when I saw the white gloves. Some of the models will not be in cases but on a platform with a barrier. I said I wasn't too happy about the dust that will get on the models and I was told that the conservators from the V&A would be looking after them. I had this image of someone in white gloves who usually spends their time cleaning expensive antiques, carefully cleaning my models !! I have just received confirmation that the museum has given me one of their rooms for a one day show on 14 November. Now my problem really start!! Any one who hasn't contacted me already who would like to show off their work, please contact me - please include your email address. Cheers Mike |

This show is terrific, Mike. Hats off to getting this kind of air and space time for paper modeling. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Tim,
I'd be happy for you to mention it on the other forum - or any others ! I'd rather you send the note - I'm an impecunius pensioner and couldn't cover the cost of beer. Be warned that the cafe at the museum doesn't sell beer :-) Cheers Mike The quick answer to the other question is - everything. I'll be bringing some of Canon animals and the 3D Paper figures - I now have 5 of them. I will also be bringing Burt Simmons. I know others will be bringing a wide collection of Light Houses and ships (David hathaway paper Shipwright) Roger Pattenden (heritage Models) will have his own creations and automata. There will be some fine F1 cars, planes, military and lots more |

Yesterday was the first show in London exclusivly for card models. I hope I've got it right, that two of the regulars joined me at the museum. "Malachite" and Tim Crow. The other four are people who have been at other shows in the past. "Barry" had hoped to come along but didn't feel well enough - I hope you are getting better.
First I would like to thank all those who turned up on a wet and windy Sunday. The "service" provided by the museum was way above the normal for club shows - admittedly there were fewer exhibitors and the museum is geared for this sort of thing. They even provided an overhead projector for a slide show and free internet access. I had taken my computer so show visitors various web sites - however, I never got past the live broadcast of the Abu Dhabi grand prix. Even the visitors were trying to look over the sholders of the exhibitors who, at times were more interested in the race than the visitors - Not surprising, given the circumstances! It's difficult to judge the numbers of visitors but there was a steady stream of people wandering past the tables and asking questions and I hope that those who brought along their models had a good day. Anyway, here are a few pictures. I won't explain whats going on - I'll leave the above folk to describe their own displays. My models were in the middle and will appear in a following email. Again, a big thank you to those who came along - it gave us all a chance to swap stories and put faces to names. I guess I should also thank this form - without it the show would have been much poorer! Cheers Mike |
