Question Beltway PaperBenders!

I had such a great time meeting everyone at the recent convention that I'm thinking we might have enough people in the Washington, DC area to warrant a monthly gathering.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the second Saturday of the month, between 6pm and 9pm.

I can think of several restaurants that have little meeting areas in the back and would like to have a half-dozen or more people dining, sipping ice tea and snacking on a regular basis.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's interested in joining me for such an informal gathering.

If I get enough feedback, I'll do the legwork to get us a watering hole.

The floor is now open for discussion!

What do you have in mind, as the agenda for such a gathering (besides the socializing that would take place, that is).

That's easy!

Item #1: 30 seconds of introductions and "Welcome to the gathering, y'all!"
Item #2: Order dinner, drinks or snacks.
Item #3: 20-30 minute guest presentation if any are available.
Item #4: Show-n-tell of current projects.

Modify above on-the-fly, as we feel like it.

How's that sound?

Sounds like what I would expect at a typical modelers meeting!

Stan,

What do you think makes up a quorum (more than 2 anyway). Would also need everyone's location to find an agreeable meeting locale.

I wouldn't be able to make it every month, but I go to DC regularly so I could probably make it every few months or so. I'd love to see something like this happen!

Quorom? QUOROM! We don' need no steenken' quorom!
My thinking is to keep it totally informal for the first few meetings. From a quick peek at the calendar, the 2nd Saturday of the month has no major holidays.
I've spoken with a local restaurant manager at Bentley's of Falls Church.
And he said as long as we call ahead and make a reservation, we are welcome to use their meeting room. I told him the first few times, we probably would on be a small group of 4 to 6 people and he said no problem. They are open to 9pm on Saturdays.
I said we would order dinner and drinks and probably be there from about 6pm to closing.
I chose that place because it is always busy for breakfast, but my wife and I have never seen more than a few cars in the evenings. It is in front of a motel and only a short distance from the beltway, on Rt50.
If I get someone else to promise to show up, I'll make a reservation for January. That would be Saturday, January 8th.
I know better than suggest December. Honestly... two weeks before the holidays, methinks we'll all have better things to do. [wink and a grin]
Whatcha think?

I'll try and make it. I was seriously contemplating a trip down around then anyways, so who knows, it might work.
