Army Heritage day

There were many visitor and a good assortment of re-enactors at the event. but still no "Sikorski, or a Corsair" matter of fact. More models on display and some re-enactors to come. Enjoy and see you all next posting.

Here I am bringing up the rear.

As you have seen in the previous pictures, we had fun, History was shared in multiple ways.

Stories from veterans, stories from reenactors, stories from us modelers.

Mike and I took some time on Saturday morning to walk the trail, and look at all of the displays.

One of the first displays was a ETO check point, and standing guard was a very well restored GPW,

As with a lot of the displays, the kit used in theater was laid out.

Across from the GPW, was an excellent Dodge WC-52, 3/4 ton Weapons Carrier.

I am willing to post more if wanted, and if you want to take a look at some of the other pictures I took, you can head to https://picasaweb.google.com/1104278...4991/AHEC2012#

I also have some pictures of some of the cars that were parked at the motel I was staying at.

AC Cobra

Renault Dauphine 40, from 1964

A FiberFab GT-12

A Simca 1000

Just outside of the visitor center, where we were set up, various specialized displays were set up, including a trailer honoring fallen Special Operations Soldiers and Rangers, and an Operator in his in theater gear was there to talk to the visitors.
Here he is next to Colonel Kirby, and the picture next to him is the 3rd Force Recon Marine from paper-replika.com

He was tickled that the paper figure was kitted like he was

Hope you enjoy

Rick

Great shots! looks like a fun time.
I like the varied models, they are might fine builds.
Also nice to see the comparisons of scale, some of the models are quite large.
Thanks guys for taking the time and effort to share the photos.

I appreciate the comments from friends who have dropped in. It makes the event seem even larger with the rest of you sharing the experience through this thread.

With regard to the large models that Joe mentions: DrLaser has proposed that we do a group build of a 1/2 scale M3 light tank. Of course, he made this suggestion while we were being solemn at Amy's, but who knows what may happen?

I think we'll need to subcontract out the track links

Looking back through this thread, I discovered that there was a typo in my Post #25, which shoudl have read, "It is the tradition from time immemorial that the Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days end the first day with a traditional, immemorial, and solemn dinner at Amy’s Thai cuisine, which today included birthday toasts to Ryan Short and Mike Bauer and toasts to Greg and Robin Perry, Gil and Jeannie Benson, and other absent friends."

Apologies to Greg, Robin, Gil, and Jeannie, who were sorely missed at the Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days event.

Incidentally, since that time, Jeff (Paperwarrior) came to visit the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (and me) and I am expecting a visitation from Chuck Davenport(cdavenport) this week.

We hope that Don Prime (rockpaperscissor) will also be here next year.

Don
