IPMS Modeling event in Monterrey, Mexico - July 7, 2012

My former home town, Monterrey, was the host of the II IPMS Event, last July 7th, 2012.

The event was in the Hotel Sheraton Four Points.

A few pics.

My sales table: books and some paper models (which I didn't sell any,

as people is still wondering what paper modeling is).

My entry models. I put a laptop with a slideshow of how I built the P-51 Mustang.

My models were: P-51 Mustang D Creamer's Dream from AirDave, P-51 Mustang C
Old Crow also from AirDave, and Messerschmitt Bf-109 T-2 that I'm reporting here:
Messerschmitt Bf-109 T-2 Halinski 1:33

I also had some Paper Modeling brochures.

And these are models from my friend Juan Reza, from Monterrey. He's been building paper
models for quite some time now, but he is not a forum guy. He is Big Paper Model guy though...
All his models are from Paper-Replika.com

As you can imagine, the Optimus Prime attracted many people and he was kind enough to explain
how he did it. We hoped that these models could bring new modelers into paper.

Very Cool! I visited Monterrey on a high school (long, long time ago....in a galaxy far, far away) trip to Mexico. I like Monterrey much, much better than Mexico City and really enjoyed staying in Monterrey better. Nicer cleaner city with more friendlier people! We got the visit a house the local college (I believe) built and raffled off as a fund raiser.

From the looks of your display I'm sure you Wowed all on-lookers............... and I'm also sure you heard "That's Paper!!!" allot!!!!

Great job my friend!!!

john

Thank you John! Yes, Monterrey one of the most industrial cities in Mexico, is surrounded by beautiful mountains with both forest (east) and desert (west).

Yes, Dave, I got first place with the Me 109 and Second with the Red Tails Mustang. My friend Juan got the Best Paper Model prize... but I was glad to have another contestant with me.
