Nothing is stopping you from organizing one in New Zealand

Planning to attend this year, any info on room rates etc. Also does the hotel allow mailing packages for models? Be flying standby and luggage is a problem.

Hope to see you there, John.

Keep checking the IPMC site (International Paper Modelers Convention) for info. Peter should be able to provide an update soon.

In a couple of weeks, I will post info on the Awards. The special theme for this year is secular architecture, and there will be one award in that category. But ALL models (including those of churches, cathedrals, shrines, temples, and other buildings, as well as airplanes, ships, motor vehicles, roasted chickens [Yo! AirDAVE!] or anything else that can be made of paper are welcome for display.

The spirit and intent of the IPMC awards is explained in this conclusing sentence of last year's Awards Rules: "The primary purpose of the International Paper Models Convention is the enjoyment and promotion of the art and craft of paper model design and building; the sharing of wisdom, tips, and techniques; the trading of stories about the craft and its artisans; and the sharing of camaraderie and good fellowship. Awards are bestowed in that spirit. The judging is invariably conducted in a congenial, non-confrontational manner, and the results are invariably received with joy, pleasure, and congratulations to the winners. Any person who disagrees will summarily be declared chartum opifex non grata and compelled to build the Shipyard model of HMS Victory using only a blunt kitchen knife and LePage’s glue."

All,

I've just uploaded the IPMC 2014 Registration Form and Tentative Schedule in the "Paper Modelers Self Help Library" section, and they should be available for download soon. The prices and format will be basically the same as last year. Our colleague Anne is working on a reprise of the NASM restoration facility tour for Sunday morning. If this works out, there will be a special incentive this time: they're restoring the B-26 "Flak Bait," and we'll be able to get a close-up look at the work in progress.

Spread the word, and drop me a private message if you have any comments or questions. Hope to see y'all in October!

Don
Sounds really tempting.
Normally, I don't travel to the DC area and October is a bit far out for me to plan, but you planted the seed for a road trip. No promises!!!!!!!!!!!!
