21st Annual Antique Engine & Tractor Show Apache Junction
Getting another one out of the way before leaving for vacation. Figure a big show next weekend plus 3 or 4 museums on the way there and back will be looking at another 1000+ images to do when I get back. Anyway this was last year's show when we actually had a few weeks of cool and rainy weather. Still some interesting (to me anyway) things there and didn't have the crowds as usual.
A Silver King circa 1940 - these were build by the company that built the Plymouth switchers and were originally called Plymouths until Chrysler objected. They were able to prove that they had build some Plymouth trucks in the 1905-8 era and a couple of prototype autos so some money had to change hands there. Persian Orange on steel doesn't get much better - Allis-Chalmers 1937 WC. Fairbanks Morse semi-diesel that ran water pumps for the Santa Fe in the Williams area to fill up the steam engines. The first time I saw them fire this up they were using a blow torch to get the glow plugs hot enough to light it off. Really want to do a model of it. Ford 8N on Arp Half Track conversion. Arp built a lot of kits to fit different manufacturers until 4 wheel drive tractors were developed. Emico Power Horse 1938 for the farmer who hadn't completely adjusted to no horses. 2013-03-09 21st Superstition Springs Tractor Show - whulsey Enjoy! |

Interesting machines. Built like a brick outhouse too, I'll bet.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I keep hoping if I throw enough stuff out there one of the designers might decide to take a try at one...or two. Can't believe that some of these haven't been done in paper or plastic. Especially a Ford 8N, some version of the John Deere A or B 2-cylinder and a Allis-Chalmers WC or B for the 1936 to 1956 era when tractors moved from the big early stuff and horse drawn to the beginnings of the modern era.
