Mid West Paper model meet in works
After recent discussions to add to my previous exploration of a Midwest IPMC event, I am trying to hookup with one of the IPMS shows near me next year. I'm currently in talks with a club in Des Moines about this. More on this as I get feedback from the club.
In the mean time, who would be interested in attending such a one day event (Saturday) in Des Moines, IA in the spring? greg

Ooo, that's much more doable depending on the date. Des Moines is only 2 hours east from me.

It could be doable. About a 9 hour drive, would be three days, two hotel nights, and some strategic planning. Interested yes, confirming, no.

I'm certainly interested. Depends on the date and the weather. It's a long drive.

If things work out to piggy back with the IPMS show I'm talking with, the date would be Saturday April 11 in Des Moines IA.

You guys are in the true Midwest. It is still 9 hours drive from cincinnati. So for me, it is no different than current location in Virginia.
Sounds like regional meets are better depending on our location. Isaac

OK, after discussing this with you and the IPMS club I'm working with, I'm changing my approach.
I am planning on renting a vendor table. Then I can use the table to display some paper examples, put on a presentation about the history and techniques of paper modeling and maybe even vend some stuff. Any one of you that wants to participate is welcome. You can help me or just enjoy the day and compete in the IPMS contest with your paper or plastic creations! I'll update more as time gets closer and I firm up my plans! greg

Sounds cool Greg. I just met some folks from my local IPMS chapter this past Saturday. I was at the local air and space museum I used to work at for a meeting, and wandered over to oogle the B-17 before I left. When I saw a bunch of tables full of models, of course I had to have a look. One of the guys working on a model also works on the facilities crew at the museum. He and I got talking and then he asked if I was the one that made all of the paper models in the office. I said yes, and then all of the plasti/resin heads wanted to see some. I showed then some pics on my phone and they were impressed. Then, John (the facilities guy) went and grabbed three of my models from the office, and they all went nuts. They have officially invited me to come to a meeting when I can, and to show some in the OMACON contest on March 28th. That got me excited. Now, if only I had Wednesday nights open for club meetings.
