North of Flagstaff, about half way to the Grand Canyon. Near Williams.

LMAO,ROTF! Tears in my eyes!

Got to clean my monitor, was pouring hot tea down my gullet!

Geez, that'll be the first stop before hitting the road. Eurotech repair in Knoxville.

They have been doing the work for the last few years, do have a question about the camshaft chain tension. $95 to have it checked is cheap insurance. When talking to Cliff who works there he says this particular car has nothing wrong with it.

25-year old car 61,095 miles on it. According to Haggerty Insurance, low book is $7800, Hi book Concurs is $29,000. Mine is considered Excellent and books around $18,000. Carfax was clean. Paid $9500.

It will be the 6th Porsche I've owned, the 4th 944, and the second S2 Cabriolet. Took 6-months of looking at junk to find this one!

Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet.

Wow,

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Planning an overnight at Albuquerque, Atomic Museum would be a cool stop! Will be hiking on Sandia Mountain.

Didn't know about the stop past Ft Smith.

Pima has an SR71, probably going to make it down.

Photos are a must (64gb SD card + Nikon D3100).

Been to the Museum Of Flight, always one of my favorite stops, lots of pictures of the M21!!! Didn't know about Paul Allen's, added to the list.

Didn't know about the Idaho Falls aircraft, will check it out as Idaho Falls is on the list to visit (Sister lives there).

Glen Canyon Dam is on the way to Utah, Sister lives in Smithfield.

You say there is a detour?

Oak Creek Canyon sounds great! Will check google to see where it is.

Thank you all for the suggestions-can't stop at them all, but a few have been added to the list!

Mike

Yup, provided link in my post.

Google Maps shows detour route, non-traversable sections of 89A are no longer shown.

Cool!

I'll have to go there next time I'm down that way...

If you do go to Pima Air Museum, the AMARG Tour is interesting as well.

Hi SGOTI,

Thank you for the link. Checked it out, sounds like a good plan to drive that in the day-time, lots of animal crossings!

Planes of Fame at Valle, AZ, is their 2nd location of planes.

Boneyard tour and Titan visit, might need to take more time from work!

Will put in another yes for the Pima Museum its about a 2 hour drive from Phoenix. Just off I40 in Woodward, OK is the Thomas Stafford Museum, also the other side of the interstate is the Heartland Museum which is more Route 66 and farm and car orientated. A few hours out of the way would be the Mid-American Air Museum in Liberal, KS which is an excellent civil aviation museum. 2010-09-13 Mid America Air Museum - whulsey Stop by Dorothy's house when you're in town and say hello to Toto.

Depending on were you come across from Idaho, there is the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River, OR. Its on the Oregon side of the Columbia a couple of hours east of Portland.

Hey Texman when did Tinker AFB get moved out of Midwest City to Tulsa (from a former Oakie who had an aunt who lived about 3 blocks off 29th at the main gate)?

Also I believe the road rebuilt to Page was finished last week and its now open. Might want to check with ADOT on that.

Was listening to NPR (sort of) while I getting ready for work and heard them talking about it.

This the cut you're talking about.

Don't know what kind of side trips you want to go on but in SW Oklahoma there is the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge near Lawton/Ft. Sill. Lots of bison free ranging there. We used to go there a lot in the 1960's. Fun and interesting.

Speaking of road cuts , anyone remember the carving in a cut along I-20 in Mississippi east of Vickburg that had "Remember Duane Allman" carved in big letters? It was the early 1970's not long after he was killed in that motorcycle wreck. It was a pleasant surprise when I just happened to look to the right and saw it.
