National Railway Museum - York
Just got back from four days in York.
Thought I would share some photos. The centre of York is still surrounded by the castle walls. To go into the centre you have to pass through the various gates. The main southern one being Micklegate: Not my photo. Taking pictures and driving is frowned upon. The hotel was on the riverside and 15 minutes walk via the castle walls to the training centre: Any one who has visited York will know Leeman Road. The railway museum now inhabits both sides of the road National Railway Museum The main engine shed is still in the same place: Evening Star, the last steam loco built (1960) More shortly Tim |

Howzit Tim
Looked at your photos and went to the website, beautiful machines! Two standouts for me, "Duchess of Hamilton" and "Bullet train". Seeing them up close, I'm jealous! York looks nice, lots of history, and of course, the beautiful cathedral. Niki |

Magnificent locomotives and magnificent clear, large images.
Many thanks, Tim. Lil and I spent a couple of very happy days in York about 40 years ago and have never forgotten that experience. Your second image vividly brought back memories of walking the city wall on a midsummer evening. Don |

Beautiful.
Have only ever been to York once - drove through at night and then never got back. And I always wanted to go to the Museum! Got more pictures?
