Dave,

I think Dayton is a doable distance from Southern Ontario. I'm game for the 7 hour drive.

ten hours from KC to Lima, Ohio, but that was with an infant, so frequent stops. This looks very doable

I would love to have an excuse to go to Dayton. It's one of those places I told my wife I have to see before I die.

On another note on location, Kalamazoo, MI has a nice air museum as well. There are a few rare birds housed there, like the only surviving XP-55 Ascender! It is a bit more north and closer to both Dave and Chris.

Thats funny...I was looking through the Air-Zoo website some time ago.
I was looking for their convention and meeting room facilities.
As an alternative to holding the meet in a Hotel,
it would also be fun at a Museum or attraction.

Sigh....I suppose Salt Lake City is out of the question. I would be interested in attending a convention in Dayton. I pretty well refuse to fly these days...if I want a rectal exam, I insist the person giving it is an MD, so would be making a road trip. As far as timing, May or June would be preferable.

There are many elements to discuss.
For example, costs...and what exhibitors/participants will be willing to pay.

As far as the actual dates, I know Chris mentioned March break.
I was originally thinking Spring, as in March/April or May.

I think June might be a problem (school ending).
Many families with kids might not be available at that time.
Plus its getting hotter at that time of year.

But obviously this is something everyone can discuss at a later time.

Maybe, after we come up with a tentative location, we can look at available dates
for booking hotels, meeting rooms, and facilities.

Being a car type, let me throw up the idea of Indianapolis or South Bend, Ind. South Bend especially since you have the Studebaker Museum there and its not that far southeast to Auburn for the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum and the National Auto and Truck Museum (which has a restored Futurliner) and Kalamazoo about the same distance to the northeast.

Dayton is OK

If I am back in Cincinnati next year, I can bring as many models you can handle.

If I am still in Montreal or Toronto, then I will bring around 5.

All aircraft in 1/33 scale.

I vote for Dayton, haven't been to museum there yet.

Besides short easy drive, Paper Model Convention in the Spring? Northern?-drive-dayton.jpg

After-all drove from Kenai to Ft Rucker and back in the 1980's...

I might consider flying down, I plan to visit the museum at Dayton, someday to check out the XB70.

Hey all! I think Dayton sounds awesome. Not a place I had ever considered visiting before. But now I know better - Gotta get to that museum! Realistacally anywhere in daves circle of awesomeness is is good for me!

I look forward to actually getting out there and meeting some of you!

Personally timing for me is way more important than location. Needs to be at a time I can bring my kids so during school time is out.
Thanks
Chris
