Depending on health, wealth, and imponderables, Lil and I would like to attend. Dayton is doable for us from Carlisle, PA.

What dates is school "out"?

2017 Mid-Winter "Spring"Break is March 13-17
(March 11-19 including the weekends).

Next school "holidays" come during Easter April 14-17.

Don't know of anything in May.

June is very awkward for anyone who has kids.

Summer Holiday begins July 1 (and thats too late!).

Personally, I would suggest making the "Meet" happen on Saturday March 16.
But thats just my suggestion.

sorry Darwin. I can try to arrange a private Rectal exam? Maybe a female TSA Nurse?

Any other date suggestions?

I give a spring paper model convention in Dayton a big up-vote.
The first paper model conventions where held in the Dayton area before moving to Virginia, but I was working weekends at the time so I missed them. Now I would be able to attend.

Let a thousand flowers bloom! There should be more than two such shows in this great nation. Logistically, it would be easier if the organizers put on the show in the same town where they live. Keep the venue low cost for low stress. I help run a plastic model show, so I could tell you all about things you shouldn't do.

I would love Michigan as I've been meaning to take a trip out there again anyway, but anything closer than the east coast would be welcome (driving from La Crosse, WI).

Well...I see the first lull in conversation, so...

It appears as though we have established Dayton as an acceptable choice for a location.
Not a definite yet...but an obvious choice for a "north-eastern" event.

Its not as north as I had hoped, but the USAF Museum is definitely a consideration and a "must-see!".
And its possible that next Spring "Memphis Belle" and the "Valkyrie" will be back on display in the new hangar.

If Dayton remains the choice for a spring event, how does everyone feel about my suggestion of Saturday March 16
at the end of the Spring Break week?

Later we can discuss the options for actual location of the event,
Hotels and accomodations,
transportation to and from Airports, Museums, etc
and actual costs for the event.
If 40 people say "yes I can and will attend an event on March 16 in the Dayton area..."
then we can obviously move forward with topics.

I would go My job is pretty flexible so as long as I ask for time off in advance it's never been a problem.

Just to clarify...40 was just a number I pulled out of the air.
I could have easily said 12 or 100.
I wasn't indicating a required number of guests, spectators or exhibitors.

...

Heres a better question...or two questions...we need answered.

1. Would you show up (visitor/spectator/competitor) at a March 16, 2017 Paper Model Meet/Covention/Competition in the Dayton Ohio area?

2. Would you participate as an Exhibitor and/or Vendor at the same event?*

*which would involve paying for Table/Display space, taking part in paid activities such as a banquet after the event, etc

#1 is very important to whether an event like this is worthwhile.
#2 is extremely important to how(and if) we put on this type of event.
