Yup CNE Air Show is this weekend.
This airshow has been running for about 400 hundred years. But it takes place way out, over the water. Out on Lake Ontario. Safer for the City of Toronto, but harder to view (in my opinion). I can remember seeing a B52 Bomber, the Concorde, and a Vulcan. Apparently the SR-71 made an appearance one year. You can purchase a VIP Package to view the Air Show from "The Flight Deck." Canadian International Air Show - Toronto Air Show - Buy Tickets Its a waterfront area that has special catering and booze, and front row viewing for the Air Show. They also have Flight Simulators and other extras, like Meet and Greets with Pilots and private tours of Aircraft. Flight Deck passes also get you cool items from their "Swag" table. Its not cheap...but if you can afford it, it might be a fun way to see the Air Show. The Flight Deck organizers contacted me last month asking about using my Snowbirds model. They wanted to produce some printed/packaged Kits and add them to the Swag table. I agreed and gave them a discounted price for a bunch of Kits. In the end they changed their mind...said their budget didn't allow for it this year. Maybe next year?

I'm jealous! But how has the air show been going on for 400 years now? Ballooning?

Starting in 1692, the aboriginal people held the "Toronto Air Show" in the late summer.
They held the "Air Show" every year since then Later, the French took over...and eventually the English. Toronto means "metal bird of power" in Cree (or something like that) Thats why the City of "Toronto" was built and named at that location in the 1930s. I don't ever remember seeing any balloons, but I'm sure there must have been some. Especially during the gasoline shortages of the 1970s.

I tried to go up the CN tower yesterday to gain a different vantage point , but the lines were crazy long.
I did get some pics from the city though. Isaac

Wait....400 hundred years.... that's um (takes shoes off, glad he showered)....400, carry the 0 ten times....add the big toes....divide by ....well, uh.... equals umm 400,000 years. That's one heckuva lot of balloons!
