Sorry to hear that you won't be with us Flyboy, but you HAVE to be present for your son's Senior Recognition Night. Sometimes life forces us to prioritize and it has to be family first.

Yes indeed. For some of us, we missed alot of our families firsts, and only's, so it is the season of life to devote our time to them. I have missed many things in their lives, and now I have the opportunity, and choice, to show that they do have a very important place in my life. I will be rejoining y'all next year, and you might even be able to entertain the ever elusive Missus!

Greetings all,
I've just uploaded the IPMC 2017 Registration Form and Schedule in the "Papermodelers.com Self Help Library" section of the download area. As you'll see, everything is pretty much the same as last year, including the fee schedule. The hotel has changed its menus around, so I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the Friday icebreaker and Saturday dinner will work. However, the quality of the food has been pretty good in the past, so I'm confident that we'll come up with something acceptable. This will be the *20th* IPMC! I hope you can join us for this this historic milestone. |

Change of plans for me too!
I am seriously considering making the trip this year. (but...too bad Texman will not be there) There are many factors I still have to work out, so nothing is definite, but with the cancellation of the Toronto Scale Model Show, my calendar is open. My Daughter has asked about visiting the area and hitting some Museums. If she can get the time off work, I will seriously try to make it happen. It will all come down to funds, and how much I can raise this summer. 20th anniversary? ...woohoo!! I must offer to do a special model for the event....if you need one. Pete...send me an email with your ideas.

It would be great if you could make this one, Dave, although it is too bad that Ray won't be there, too. Collectively, the two of you add a great deal of dignity and sophistication to the event. I think the Marines have a word for it: "liberty risk."

Greetings.
I would like to ask about the possibilities of including a small event in the next Paper Modelers convention. Last time I talked to Kathleen Zorn, she said she wanted to make a special ceremony, a "celebration of life" remembering Peter Zorn in the second half of the year. She's been very busy, but what she told me is that the idea was that people who were far away and could not go to be physically present could participate from their places by having a nice gesture to someone; by making someone happy in any way. I wonder if something similar could be included in this year's convention schedule as a small event to remember Peter Zorn in our paper community. Something like a swap table where people give for free those kits they'll never build to others who want to take them. Or a meeting where the participants of the convention give a surprise kit (built or unbuilt) to any other fellow modeller. Or the creation of a small 1-page kit to be given for free to visitors who have not yet entered the hobby. Or any other kind of paper model-related activity where they put a smile on the face of someone, in honor of Peter Zorn. Is just an idea. I wish it could be developed further and included in some way in the convention. Kind regards,

I think if you attended the IPMC you'd be pleasantly surprised at the amount of effort goes into free things,
giveaways, gifts to other members, and gifts to the public. Although Peter Zorn is a brilliant and respected designer, he wasn't an active participant at the IPMC, was he? So singling him out over other modellers and designers that have passed away, might be a little unfair. Obviously I can't/won't tell the IPMC what to do...but I think it might be more respectable for you(Rubenandres) ...or anyone attending...to set up their own table display honoring Peter Zorn's work? This would of course require you to bring various built models and/or copies of Peter Zorn's books. I have a couple of unbuilt books. I'm sure many people do. If I attend, I'll gladly bring them along. But I have no built Zorn models to display.

Dave: thanks for your answer. I always like to read your comments (in every thread you participate), as your opinion is straight to the point, and sometimes give a different point of view that I have not considered. True, since I have not attended personally any previous convention, I am unaware of how things go there in terms of those activities.
Kind regards,

I have met Peter and Alan personally at IPMC events, 2003 and 2004 if I recall.
Peter was showing his MG kits, and selling them, and showing us how to color the model, which was printed on photo stock, using a broad tip marker, which was very interesting and something that will always stay with me. I have been toying with a group build idea, a Remember the 80's build, build any and all kits from Peter, Alan, and others that were released in the 1980's, with both Alan and Peter passing, this would be a more permanent remembrance of them and their talents they shared with us.
