Breckenridge Texas Warbird Airshow
Well, this past weekend, I and my family made a journey to see an airshow.
But first, a little back story. In 1977, a small group of warbird folks got together and held the first airshow in Breckenridge, Texas. Fast forward about 10 years, and I got to attend the show. In 1997, the last show was put together. Twenty years later, I find an announcement that the Airshow had returned this year. Lots of information on the hows, who's and why's out there, but the point being, IT WAS GOING TO BE A WARBIRD AIRSHOW! No "suck, squeeze, bang, blow", just lots of "whirly thingies on the front of the the airplane" airshow. As I work through the almost 700 pictures I took, I will try and post up some of the better ones I managed to get. Here is a summary of what I was able to see, feel, and enjoy from an aviation lovers view. 4 x F4U Corsair 2 x Hawker Fury 1 x F4F Wildcat 1 x TBM Avenger 1 x SB2C Helldiver 3 x B-25 2 x C-47 1 x PT-17 1 x PT-19 2 x P-40 1 x Spitfire 1 x F7F-3P Tigercat 3 x T-28 Trojan 1 x A-26 1 x C-45 1 x Grumman Widgeon 1 x P-38 12 x T-6/SNJ 1 x T-34 Mentor 2 x L-5 1 x L-19 6x P-51 Also, alot of civil aircraft, including Air Tractor flyby, Fairchild "Funk", Stinson Reliants, etc. There was also the Commerative Air Force "Tora Tora Tora" display. We arrived early enough, thanks to a strategic staging point, to secure a very desirable viewpoint to observe the show. The hardstand and apron were open to the public early on, and some aircraft departed early, providing a very up close and personal ( within 300 feet) high speed flyby. The sound of a Corsair, doing a knife edge pass that close is unforgettable! Being a Flying Tiger for 10 years, I will start with a couple of shots of me, courtesy of my son, with the two Shark Mouth P-40's. Watch this thread, as I will try and post regularly as I sort through the pics.

As my son and I were walking the flightline, we "inadvertently" stumbled
into the Ezzell Aviation restoration hanger. After a short bit, we were told that only "red and blue wristbands" were allowed in the hanger. We were told there were signs, "on the floor". My answer? Who walks in here looking at the floor! The kind gentleman said, "yes, thats what most folks say". We left, but not without my pics!!

Hawker Sea Furies and late model Corsairs. What else did you see during your surreptitious visit to that most-intriguing hangar?
