Dave,
Sorry I couldn't make it. It's too bad about all of the issues that you encountered. Gary

Need to post this....otherwise this just sounds like another post with
me whining about being "snubbed as a paper modeler". Had a meeting today with the organizer of this latest Air Cad-Con event to discuss some future projects (he's the owner of a local Hobby store). Among other things, he wants to put my models in his store. Anyway, he confirmed that judging of the models was done by a small group of dedicated plastic modelers who refused to look at anything that wasn't plastic. They were attempting to follow IPMS rules, even though they were told this was not an IPMS event. Seems there were a number of complaints... another modeler with a wooden ship did not get recognized. Best of Show went to a plastic favorite thats already won plenty of awards rather than a beautiful scratch built WW2 Motorcycle that many suggested. I was correct...my Saladin Armoured Car was deliberately ignored from judging because it was paper.. As was my PT Boat (only three entries in the Warships category, and yet they only awarded First and Second. I forgot to bring up the fact that entry fees were charged...I paid $4. I should have...its still fraud, even though the amounts are small. I'm not holding the organizer responsible, he had a lot on his plate. And he has made it clear he wasn't happy and will not be allowing IPMS in the event next year. He prefers to keep it an open "scale model" event.

Minor victory after the fact. Maybe next year will be better.
Would the hobby shop owner be open to a workshop on paper models? You could teach folks how to build a T-bucket with his (and your) logos

He wants to sell some paper planes (printed kits).
Hes interested in WW2 stuff. And we have already started talking about workshops. So, there might be something for the future. First I have to get a couple of models built to display in his store. Right now I have to finish this damn spacecraft commission.
