Planes of Fame Chino California 1/6/18
Howdy Folks,
Living History Flying Day featuring the P-38 Lightning. Two were on display and one flew. Presenters included: 475th FG Historians Brad Ball and Chris Madison. The Planes of Fame Docents , moderator and historian Kevin Thompson. The attending crowd had to be over one hundred for this Saturday morning event. Interesting ramp display with three P-51 aircraft . Also their L-17 Navion has been moved out of the maintenance hanger; it appears nearing re-build completion. Bob Penikas |

Cool stuff. The other day's mail had in it the book Queen of the Skies the Lockheed Constellation by Claude G. Luisada where during chapters about development of the design it mentions how Constellation's vertical stab/rudder shape and wing shape are essentially enlarged ones from Lightning because of how those shapes were efficient for the performance required of Constellation design.

Question: does anyone have a technical, scientific, study of WHY these aircraft are so attractive?

Lockheed just had the aesthetic magic ever since the Vega-Sirius-Orion-Altair days.
