Cool Indianapolis IPMS contest

Yesterday I attended the Indy contest ( 2 hour drive from Dayton Ohio ). This is one of my favorite venues for a model contest.

The only category open for me was the "Miscellaneous" . However, it was packed with lots of stuff and no room for my paper models. So I talked to the organizer and they got me an empty table in a great location and set up my display. I also handed out lots of flyers for our upcoming Dayton paper convention May 12th.

here is my paper display

and I entered a single plastic model I built ( A Kyushu Shinden pusher plane )

It was a fun event and many folks stopped to admire and ask questions. One of the judges came over to let me know how he liked the models alot. I thanked him, and shared my opinion that IPMS really does not know how to deal with paper. My objective was to show another aspect of modeling.

We may have some new folks come over to Dayton.

Comparing the paper Shinden to the plastic one, I like the paper better. The canopy and finish color look a lot better (to my eye) than the plastic.

Great looking display. I must agree, the paper Shinden is better looking than the plastic one.
You can talk till your blue in the face to IPMS people about combining plastic and paper. I dont think it’ll ever happen. Can’t hurt to try though.
I’ve been informed on several occasions its a Plastic, not Paper organization.
Oh well, there loss.

That is why we need to form our own get together. No need to beg for legitimacy!!!!!
