Wings and Wheels show at Willow Run MI
Yesterday, under cloudy sky, the Yankee Air Museum hosted a "Wings and Wheels" show, featuring old airplanes and old cars. Although there were a lot more wheels than wings, it was fun. The only flying was the museum's B-17 giving rides, and a Waco giving rides. No cars were giving rides!

That gal with the P-51 is "Rosie the Riveter" - one of over 2000 that posed for a photo supporting the Yankee Air Museum! Here are a few more photos.

And a few more. The building with the Privateer, Caribou is the last remaining structure of the Ford Willow Run bomber plant. This was the end of the production line, where finished planes rolled out to be tested and sent to war. In late '44 and '45, there was one an hour! The space, just a corner of the original plant is 100,000 square feet, and was donated to the Yankee Air Museum. It is being completed as funds are available. A few more photos.

The pictures of the Kaiser Manhattan take me way back.
I had one when I was a teenager in 1959. |

That one is a 53. I had a 52 for many years. Willow Run was the headquarters and main assembly plant for Kaiser Frazer.

It is reported that Kaiser Frazer built over 700,000 cars at Willow Run after WWII until 1953, then buying Willys-Overland to become Kaiser Motors ( I once owned a Kaiser Jeep CJ5). Also, during the time at Willow Run, Kaiser built about 80 C-119 Flying Boxcars. So, Zakopious and whulsey, you owned some really historic vehicles - in many ways!
