Question Dayton 2019 paper mini Con

All

I would like to solicit input into the venue for the 2019 Dayton Ohio 2019 mini convention.

Time frame around the month of May, but anything is OK based on input.

Recall that we re started the Dayton get together last year at the Hope Hotel and convention center outside the gate of the Wright Patterson US Air Force base.
Here is a link to that activity last year :
Dayton Paper Con 2018 May 11 to 13th

As great as it was, I think it was a remote location that made it difficult for people to drop by and visit.

so....

This year, I would like to consider some alternates closer to population and roads.

I would like to propose our next venue at the Dayton Wright Brothers airport ( KMGY for those that fly ).
Here is the rational:

1- There is a huge lobby with large glass walls that lets the light in.

2- The airport is on a main local road ( Route 741 ) and is directly accessible ( no side roads or driving far ).https://www.google.com/maps/place/Da....2280854?hl=en
3- It is located less than a half mile from a big shopping, restaurants, hotel center called Austin Landing:

4- I talked to the facility manager and he is excited about it ( a Win-Win ) and folks can see real planes right there and maybe go flying.

5 - The lobby usage is free. I will only need to rent the long tables.

6- There is a Hilton Garden Inn at the Austin landing for out of town participants.

7- Lots of restaurants nearby

8- The USAF museum is 25 minutes away and the Wright B flyer museum is next door to this venue.

Thoughts, comments?

Great ground work, Isaac! This location looks very good, and, wow, surrounded by aviation! And that leaves a lot of space for boats, trucks, buildings, castles, etc.!! I'm ready to help if needed, even by long distance.

Would be great if some of the "Original Cast of Characters" could attend.

Lets see what folks want. I am sure I will need your help and input.

I will post a poll later on.

Anyone who attended last year should have no problem with this venue.

I can also see if I can use a big sign outside a month before to draw folks in.

I could definitely be interested. And Southwest flies into that airport, so I wouldn't have to travel far after I get there. Are there any other hotels close by for those of us on a budget?

I was hoping for the National Aviation Hall of Fame as a location, but the airport is a good second choice. Bet we could borrow some tables from the nice people at the USO.

Please let me know of any contacts at the USO if you know them.

While I don't have any comments on hotels or venues, I am currently working through 2019 events that are of interest to me so I can figure out which ones I may be able to attend.

So, do you have any show dates chosen or is this still up in the air?

Isaac,
Am I right in thinking that Dayton Wright Brothers Airport is a general aviation field and not a commercial airport? If so, how far away is it from the commercial airport?
