Bernie,
There are direct flights into Philadelphia, and if you need or want a ride, I can pick you up, and drive to Carlisle(plus it is 2/3 cheaper than flying into Harrisburg) Rick

Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days Part 2
Mike – I think the sight and sound of the good old Huey brings back memories and emotions for a lot of us.
Bernie – It would be wonderful to see you at this event. If you have an extra day, we could add the Maryland Campaign (South Mountain, Harpers Ferry, and Antietam) to your repertoire. I will have retired from teaching next year, so won't be trying to run my on-line elective forum the same week and weekend as this event, so we could do it. Everybody - In this post, I will focus on three of the Paper Modelers who participated in the event. Images 1-7: Peter Ansoff, in addition to being a long-time participant of this event, is, along with Pete Heesch, the orchestrator of the annual October International Paper Modelers’ Convention in Sterling, Virginia. His Empire State Building as it should have been, Peter Zorn Spirit of Saint Louis, and Johan Scherft birds are well-known at these events. Images 8-11: Rick Steffers, the heart, soul, and public face of our Forum, and one of the founding members of Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days. Image 11 shows some of his geological models. Rick loves interacting with the visitors and talking up paper models, as we all do. In image 8, he shows a paper model of a volcano (potential science fair project) to a parent and her son. Incidentally, where else but at Army Heritage Days do you find people with Kevlars casually slung over their arms? Images 12-20: Kevin Stephens, another of the founding members of this event in 2009. He is also the builder of the famous Dragon Wagon, which would never have been built had not Rick Steffers at an IPMC a decade or so ago not seen Kevin purchasing the GPM Sherman tank and then handed him the model of the Dragon Wagon, saying, “You’ll need this for the base, Kev.” Now Kevin is working on a 1/24 model of a 1920s Mack tank truck, to which he is applying his exceptional engineering and modeling skill. Maureen Stephens joined us on Saturday. I’ll post more images of modelers and models tomorrow. Don Last edited by Don Boose; 05-21-2019 at 08:16 PM. |

So it was a really fun weekend. I did get to meet two more paper benders that I had not had the pleasure to meet before. John Dell and Karl Warner.
Any time I get to meet new paper modelers, its a good day! As a bonus, the weather was great, and the rain held off until just about closing time on Sunday. Here are some of the pictures I took of the paper modelers last weekend. Other pictures from the outdoor displays will be in a separate thread. I will start with the D-Day themed models Don Boose Don Weeks Kevin Stephens Rick Steffers Linda Kemp An overview of Don Boose models Lil Boose models Don Weeks models Peter Ansoff models Rick Steffers models Kevin Stephens models Greg Perry models Linda Kemp display

For those who can't make it to Carlisle, and want to have a flavor of what one can see during the weekend, C-SPAN has some video clips they recorded during Army Heritage Days
https://www.c-span.org/video/?461936...ii-soviet-army There are two other videos linked on this page, showcasing French and US WWI soldiers For a behind the scenes look, there is also a video of one of the curators, Jim McNally showing WWI posters https://www.c-span.org/video/?451504...ld-war-posters

Bart,
Pictures hardly do the models justice. Can we add a table for you next year?
