Canadian Military Heritage Museum Open House

If you didn't know, Brantford Ontario is the home of the Canadian Military Heritage Museum!
https://canadianmilitaryheritagemuseum.ca/

And, on August 4 (2019) they will be holding their 26th Annual Open House.
Free Admission
Free Parking
Outdoor Demonstrations weather permitting
Displays
Re-enactment Battles
Silent Auction
Door Prizes
Food and more!

I have been invited to set up a small display table of paper models - historic Canadian Military vehicles.
I'm working on it.

If you want to see a real Field Artillery Tractor (Quad) similar to the one I am currently working on, they have one!
They even have the Gun and Ammunition Trailer for it!
I'm hoping I can get my 1/16 scale paper version of the FAT ready in time.

Their vehicles are in running condition, and I am told that there are other people who show up with their own Military vehicles for an outdoor display.

Its not a big Museum, and its privately funded.
But its a great little Museum, with a lot of great stuff packed inside.
They have Vehicles, Planes, Guns, Artillery, Uniforms, Equipment, models, dioramas and lots of other Militaria and historical artifacts.
I hope you can drop by.

I met the Chairman of the Museum the first time I was down there,
(I live about 30 minutes north)
and he was impressed with paper models in general.
He called me this week and invited me to set up a "display" for the Open House.
He cited a general interest in scale models and the military connection as good reasons for a display.
They already have a glass case filled with plastic models.

But as I spoke with him yesterday about the open house,
we also talked about other ideas to promote the Museum, as well as ideas for "Gift Shop" products,

...and I realized this might also be a great place to hold a Paper Model "Meet"?

In fact, with the Museum remaining open, the event itself could work as a draw for visitors (if only for one day).
I think it could be a very positive thing for the Museum.

Only issues is I'm not sure there are any rooms or areas separate from the Museum floor, where tables could be set up
...and the floor is pretty cramped as it is, with all the Museum displays,
but they often pull out the vehicles in the rear of the building to open up more floor area for events.

I haven't completely committed to doing the Open House yet, and right now Brian (the Chairman) is focused
on preparations for that day, so I will wait until after Aug 4 to talk seriously about this.
Maybe something can be put together for 2020?

As I said, I haven't actually agreed to it yet, but I am already planning.
But I probably won't have much room.
A 6ft table probably.

I've already thought about, and in keeping with the theme of the Museum and Event,
I will display 2, maybe 3, large scale Canadian Army Vehicles
WW1 Autocar, Centurion Tank...and possibly the Gun Tractor.

and at least 3 Canadian Planes.
2 RCAF Trainers (Harvard and Tutor) and an RCAF P51.

That and the appropriate signage should fill my table.

If you (or others) want to display anything at the Open House, I will have to submit a request for another table(s) and let you know.

And I would suggest keeping your display to the theme of "Canadian Military Heritage".

This years theme for the open House follows along with this year's celebration of Women in Wartime.
There were local manufacturing plants during the War, so there is a large local Women's connection to wartime service in this area.
