Question Dayton Paper con 2020

Time to think about a paper mini convention/ exhibit / get together in Dayton Ohio .

This will be our third year, and this year, I am in negotiation with the US Air Force museum to hold it at the museum during a Saturday in May.

So basically I am thinking either May 16, 23 or 30th.

Let me know if there is a preference on any of these 3 Saturdays or the venue.

For reference here is a link to our 2019 Dayton get together:

It was great seeing you earlier this year. Hopefully the museum will allow us to have our exhibition at their place ( I feel very confident ), but the dates will be in May regardless of the location.

I will keep everyone posted thru this thread.

My wife has been wanting to get back to Ohio to do some shopping, so I will pitch this as an excuse to make that happen.

May 16 is armed forces day. This would be a good day for traffic within the Air Force museum if you are permitted to hold your event there.

This always comes with somewhat of a down side, since Army Heritage days in Carlisle also happens this weekend and many folks on the east coast display their models there annually.

For folks local to you though it would make more sense to support your gathering if both events occur on the same day.

As for me, I doubt I will be attending either next year. I would prefer to take a vacation that did not involve a long drive back east next year.

Issac, good to see you up for another Dayton show! Either date works for me. If the 30th wins, I would try to get to Don's gala (Army Heritage Days, being an army peon years ago). But that will not be a deciding factor....the AF Museum would be a real score!

Cool Venue

I proposed to the museum to have our paper display at the open area of building 2. It is large and everyone passes thru here.

I am waiting for an official response from the museum, but the director is very enthusiastic about it.

Cool Done before

For those wondering why the Air Force museum ?

1- It is the biggest military aviation museum with most of the aircraft housed indoors
2- There are thousands of visitors per day
3- Lots of STEM and learning events happening there.
4- It is a free venue
5- You will have bragging rights if you display there.

and I am sure many more reasons to be cheerful.

I just displayed last month some of my planes during a family day there.

So let me know if you intend to join me and display your models.

I will follow up later on with more information.
