Patton Museum Chiriaco Summit CA 2014-09-27

Anybody that's travel I-10 between California and Arizona has seen the complex at Chiriaco Summit and maybe did a bathroom or stretch the legs break. I'd done that dozens of times and finally decided to make time to go in the museum and grab lunch at the restaurant. Good decision, great hamburger and shake and some interesting items in the museum. I haven't been that way now in a couple of years and have read that they've reorganized some, built another building to get some of the equipment under shelter and have more items on display.

"The mission of the General Patton Memorial Museum is to promote peace
by honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans
while educating the public on modern U.S. military history
through the preservation and interpretation of artifacts from the major conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries."

a great place to see Firetrucks, mobile Photo Labs, Wreckers and Towing equipment, Old West Carts and Carriages, DaVinci inventions and Cactus!
Everything you would expect at a Military History Museum. LOL

Looks like fun!

A friend has a winter home near Parker, AZ. His garage contains several VW dune buggies.

Last time I was there we headed out to the desert. What he showed me was the training grounds Patton used to train for the desert war.

Interesting place! They made paths to and from the different tents they used. Still visible as they lined the paths with small stones. Took a few photos.

Did not know about the museum, next visit will have to check it out.

My airplane avatar was taken at the Parker airport.....

I've driven by there a few hundred times over the years, but always been in a rush and didn't have time to stop.
