Would anyone like to split a table? I don’t have a lot of models to bring so I don’t need a whole table.

While I will have a few large pieces, you are welcome to use some of my table space if you'd like.

I'm trying desperately to make it this year. Still having some troubles with plane tickets. Anybody know what requirements there are to fly right now?

Greg

Thanks. I'll settle up with you on the bill that weekend. I'm trying to arrive that Friday for the setup and dinner. Not sure as I'm starting a new job. Worst case I'll be down Saturday.

Bob

Are they requiring vaccination? I haven't been able to get it yet due to health reasons.

I had planned to make it this year, but I cannot travel on the weekend of Halloween. I set up a very spooky garden in my yard, for the surrounding neighborhoods. I get almost as many adults as kids!

Nope, I was vaccinated, and they didn't ask

Tribute to Alan Rose

Last year, when Covid shut down everything, it was Alan Rose's books that helped a large group of youth who were trapped in a collection of group homes across the state. These youth were not able to go anywhere and were very isolated; for during the initial period of Covid response, they were not able to leave or even have visitation from families. It was a tough time form them, and this is a group of troubled, vulnerable youth in any situation.

We set up a contest between the homes, which encouraged a bit of old fashioned, healthy rivalry, and I set up build instructions and guidelines for the activity that supported the staff in their efforts to guide them in building. The youth very positively responded to the exercise. Rose's Saturn V rocket, the Taj Mahal, The Empire State Building, The Sears Tower, The Vatican, the Chrysler Building, the Titanic, and the US Capital were all projects that were attempted (the Hindenburg, not designed by Rose, was also tried, but it crashed!!! And the Titanic actually got water damaged in the mail!!!!).

In the end, the Sears Tower, the US Capital, and the Saturn V became the winners who completed their kits and equally shared the glory. I wish Alan Rose could have known just how much his kits helped 80 kids get through a tough time; learning from each other, challenging each other, and building something they hadn't the confidence to attempt, during a Covid lockdown! From a tough time came an insertional moment of experience for them.

If anyone could share this with his widow I would appreciate it. Those step-by-step kits really made a tough time productive and fun for youth otherwise forgotten.
