USS Constitution Model Show
hi all,
I just returned from entering two models in this years judged show and got some quick photos of some of the 75 models entered. The next to last is one of mine, the Constitution cross section. The last picture is of the huge permanent resident model (notice gent at left over six feet tall). The official sponsor is the "USS Constitution model shipwright guild". The show is held at the Constitution museum in Boston and they keep the models for about 6 weeks as a display. The show is an annual affair but it is judged only every other year. regards Jim Bean |

That must be a load of fun being on the Constitution for a modeling contest. I can imagine they have a wonderful gift shop, too.
Thanks for sharing those photos. I have always wanted to build one of those cutaways.

I echo the Major's comments....I have left my share of saliva on the catalog page that includes that particular kit.

Wow nice cross section model. I really like HMCS SACKVILLE as well - in fact they are all exceptional models. Wish I could have been there.

Thanks all. The cross section kit is from Mamoli. It looks good but is not very accurate. For instance the kit has three decks while the Constitution has four.
The museum is in one of the old navy yard buildings while the Constitution is moored about 100 yards away. The navy yard is very old so it is filled with beautiful old brick/stone buildings. It's worth the 4 hour drive just to check them out. regards Jim Bean |
