Paper friendly Wonderfest
Wonderfest, May 14-16, is an annual science fiction/horror related movie and modeling convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
WonderFest USA - A Weekend of Fun for Movie and Model Fans! Although paper modeling is not predominant, paper entries have been welcome in their model show (mine won some minor prizes). This year, skilled Colorado modeler Tom Grossman is giving a seminar on card modeling. Mostly, though, you'll see lots of well-done styrene and resin models, mostly figures, spaceships, and dioramas. |

Wonderfest is a great convention. It's family friendly and the show is put on by some fantastic people. I used to go every year I could way back when it was starting (they were kind enough to invite me as a guest). I got to see a lot of fantastic modeling there. I think it's one of the very best model contests in the country and I'm really glad the show is supporting paper modeling more!
Wish I could go this year! Chris |

Here's Tom's website:
Tom's Model Page at Humming Line Creative Works featuring the work of Tom Grossman Tom is part of a crew that comes to Wonderfest every year; they call themselves the "COMMIES": Colorado Modeling Militia. And Wonderfest is NOT an IPMS event. It's a good show, but the judging drives some hard-core IPMS members crazy. And I just realized I put this thread in the wrong forum category. Moderator, help me out? I think this should be in upcoming contests. Sorry for the mistake. |

I just noticed that new member "Battlestar Girl" is or was a COMMIE. And I got the acronym wrong.
