Bill, I think I bought this kit from the Papermodelstore, online. It arrives as a little booklet a few days later. It is a bit more money than most airplane models, but I think is a great deal for what you get. I don't cut up the kits, though, I personally use a hp copy/printer and color copy the kit- in case I want to make it again!! I'm going to have a go today at trying to lathe-turn cannon wish me luck!

unfortunately, to save time since the hull is very solid, I used some filler to make it fair. Now I think before I can go much further I'm going to have to make some cannon.

progress on the hull, final planking on and put on a coat of latex paint to cover some seams on the white area, will be about ready to make the keel.

Those cannon look like a lot of work, but worth it. Any specific issues with the build yet? It looks like it's all come together really well so far. You've inspired me to order a Shipwright kit, the Granado. Less ambitious than the Cleopatra, I hope!

Barry, thank you!! Hull planks are precisely made on this kit, and it helped to laminate with white glue and glue them on when a bit wet to form against the smoothed hull (just two layers of 67 lb card).
Chris, these are very fine kits. My only complaint is that I'm inexperienced in them; but have studied the builds of others (the instructions are minimal) so that I could get this far. You really must see the fine models some modelers have built (check out the Polish forums to see what I mean)

Looking great Glen! I don't know if I'll ever try one of these, but your build sure will help if I do

Thanks Dan! I have always had a soft spot for sailing vessels.

progress to date, some painting, keel, beak and sternpost went on nicely and true. I laminated with spray adhesive 3 layers of ~1.5 mm card, and cut out the parts with band saw. After shaping went together easily, although for the long keel peice the edge grain was sealed with white glue and pressed flat until dry, then lined up by eye, came out fine. haven't painted the cradle/stand but is combo of card and dowels.
