thanks vermin_king and longbow. John, i know for me its the history. it is so intrenched in American history both civilian and military. and it is just so damned cool looking.

finished up the fore grip.the reinforcement is probably overkill on it as it weighs more than the rest of the model so far. i actually had to edit and print and build the formers 3 times to get it right. it slides on just right. not too tight and not too loose. im very happy so far.

That's really stinking cool. I think you are going to have a wonderful display model when you are done. Make sure it is well hidden if you transport it in the car because I'm sure folks will mistake it for the real thing

Dang Trent! That looks like real wood. Don't know how you do it but don't stop.

Well ... I got a feelin' that the top one may be the replica you've used as an example to make the paper one from, but goldang it if'n the bottom one don't look more realistic.

Getting the mags done is more important o' course, but just to complete the set ... hows about adding an interchangeable military style forstock as well? I suppose I could nick the one from the previous L1A1 model, but the woodgrain wouldn't match.

That looks good Trent, but for perfection it needs to be a little longer ... like the top one shown here ...
Or is that just a shorter barrel?

Correction to my earlier post where I referred to an L1A1 ... I did of course mean an M1A1.

L1A1 is another old love ... What we Brits referred to as an SLR. (I still much preferred the AR-10 though).
