LCS2 USS Independence 1/200

i am currently stuck with only the ability to do cgi work at the moment. i was looking through some of my references and became intrigued with this ship.at first i was just experimenting to see how i would cope with the catamaran style hull. well 20 hours later i was pretty deep into design.

Nice work - this is probably the most high tech naval vessel in the world I have seen. It is a real test bed for modern computerized control, sensor, communication and instrument systems.

BTW - good work on the Bofors 57mm gun

thanks b-manic. adding details here and there. threw on some simple color to break up the monotony of staring at white forms for hours. and added a MQ-8 Firescout.

Trent this is great! Definitely a subject that deserves some coverage. These stealth ships look right out of Star Trek or something. I wonder what Admiral Nimitz would say if he could see these ships....

I would love to see a kit come out of this- or at least a set of plans and templates!
Superb rendering- quality on par with the conceptual art you see in USNI's "Proceedings".

I just got back from visiting my brother who is one of the project managers for this vessel, and also for the second trimaran, the LCS-4 USS Coronado. He had asked if there were any paper models of the Independence, and I told him that I put in a request for one. He'll be thrilled to hear that you are designing this!

Wow! That was fast. How long were you building the paper version?
