I scanned mine. It is dated 1999 but the paper is so stiff rolling would be impossible and sharp folds would break it. The color is pretty good no missed spots but a few areas that are darker than others. No biggy, just part of the charm.
I don't know what graphic program you are using but . . . if you scan the kit, select the white background, invert the selection, then play with the contrast and/or darkness you can probably improve the colour. ~ Cheers |

Thanks Douglas. I'm not scanning, just color copying so the original kit although faded is what I'll be building (I scan into photoshop and it would be too tempting...)

Some early progress, this goes together fairly simply, although has the 2 formers to each section style. The formers were small, allowing for different thickness glue strips to be applied to the inside facing edges of the formers, and fit well enough then to need just a small amt of glue. 2 sections done, small embellishments of cockpit by copying twice and gluing parts over markings to show a bit of depth

Good start, Glen. It will be a pretty airplane when you are done.
"The formers were small, allowing for different thickness glue strips to be applied to the inside facing edges of the formers . . ." Very diplomatically put. Don |

Thank-you Don! I am more impressed with your Hampton now that I have an inkling of the kit quality. Still, I'm having fun so far figuring out what the designer had in mind, and is not loaded with details. I think might make a nice model recolored and much reduced to match the level of detail.

It seems that in my haste to build this "simple model" I have missed the forest for the trees. I held it up from the front and found more twist in the fuse than I could imagine. I guess multiplication of error? Anyway, am redoing some parts needless to say. (front intakes and cockpit rear). Will get back on track shortly.:o

Here's a pic of the cockpit embellishing, not overly so, but enough I thought to be more convincing
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...ddsends013.jpg And here is the fuse redone and straightened around. Had to redo 3 section skins, but reused the formers, so some work, but worth it. From the front you can see I stuck a picture of a P+W, not the engine used in this plane, but better than a black circle! http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...ddsends014.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...ddsends015.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...ddsends016.jpg

The modifications make quite a difference! A real improvement. I'll be interested to hear your overall reaction to this kit once you've gotten through it all. I do intend to build this one, but not until my recoloring skills improve a bit.
