Thanks Charlie. I've bookmarked the site so I don't have to bother you guys with these questions next time!
I suspected it wold be Eastern Front, only because that seems to be where most of these planes were used. Hmm, maybe when I'm done I'll airbrush a little winter white on it!

The marching figure is 12 Staffel. 5 Staffel is the piper on the rope Here

Sure Chris, small entire canopies, most canopy shapes from the war have flat panels in the front, which I usually make separate, just the bubble area formed with the mold. But a large bubble canopy, P-51 for example the entire canopy can be the bubble, but would have no options for display that way. Most of mine are 1/48, making one in 1/33 is harder without vacuum, (which I have not done). I'd likely use the same method with a bigger mold.

Hmmm, the piper on the rope is a black silhouette in that version while the one in the kit is colored. I'll try to look into it further now that you guys have done all the hard work.
Glen, thanks for the info. One of the things that's kept me from doing a nice 1:33 P-51 is getting the canopy right.

Not having any luck with more info on the color of the piper yet. The only images I could find show it as a black silhouette, so I'll probably go with that.
I'm planning on coloring the inside of the cockpit (it's so visible!) and I'm assuming that it would have been a medium gray like the floors? Was there any standard Luftwaffe interior color?

RLM 02 Grau (R118 G116 B101 hex767465) was the standard interior colour. Medium grey - little on the warmish side

Changed later to RLM66 Schwarzgrau ( R47 G51 B53 hex2F3335) Dark grey - a little on the cooler side

You're talking about the Luftwaffe - of course there were standards. There's lots of discussion in the pl****c forums about this - where else, they are mostly concerned about finishing.

Luftwaffe Painting Orders
The Luftwaffe in Scale: RLM - Colors of the German Luftwaffe (for the RLM colour equivalents)

If you really want an endless discussion ask what colour RLM 66 / RAL 7021 really was.

Regards,

Charlie

I should have known I'd get too much info back! Thanks, guys. No, I don't need an endless discussion, my darling wife supplies me with enough of that. What interior there is in the kit is a medium/light gray, so I think I'll go with something just slightly darker.
Thanks again,
Chris

Getting a little done on this one.
#8 - OTDAEABT 2-Maly Modelarz FW-189 8-9 '98-img_1335.jpg
I chose a darker gray to paint the back of the canopy. Unfortunately, this is that MM paper that's frays on the cuts. I usually just use a gray marker for the edges, but these were bad enough to use paint on;

I'm not cutting out the rear cone frame until I'm sure I've got the shape of the clear plastic right.

Test fitting some of the wings and finding out that this paper doesn't like to bend, just crinkle. But now that I'm aware of it, I think I can manage a decent rolled edge.

The diagrams are a little vague on procedure. I would have thought doing the cockpit interior would be first up, but the exterior canopy is numbered first in the kit. I need to sort that out before I go too far.
The pilot's seat is pretty basic. Lots of room for finer detail on this one!
I hope to make better progress soon!
